The goal for this project was to implement an enhanced set of observability practices and processes to shift resiliency by defining and prioritizing resiliency as a non-functional requirement very early in the software delivery lifecycle while identifying specific critical baseline metrics and data that is needed to monitor the client's specific platform services and performance levels concerning system reliability, uptime, and issue resolution and troubleshooting.

The Ippon team started by conducting workshops with different groups to understand what current observability systems were in place and also desired outcomes. After the workshops, a desire for a single pane of glass view enabling metrics, logs, and traces was defined as the top priority. With this goal, the team recommended a unified solution stack, which allows for the required single pane of glass view as well as facilitating the reuse of some of the existing work that had already been done on this project internally.

Implementing an enhanced observability stack into the client’s ecosystem will deliver substantial benefits, including improved performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. This implementation will provide real-time insights and metrics to engineering and technical support teams, enabling data-driven decision-making.

By leveraging real-time data, teams will be empowered to detect and resolve issues faster, reducing downtime and enhancing the overall user experience and satisfaction. Additionally, this proactive approach will help mitigate costs associated with outages and SLA penalties while ensuring targeted investments in areas that drive the most value.
