Orange Bank

After a first successful collaboration on architecture and application development, Ippon Technologies is now supporting Orange Bank on its Go to Cloud transformation.

The number of incidents has been significantly reduced. Infrastructure costs have also been reduced, especially with the implementation, thanks to Ippon, of FinOps best practices from the start of the project. And today, Orange Bank is taking full advantage of the service catalog offered by AWS.

MODERNIZE, TRANSFORM, ACCELERATE: THE CHALLENGES OF GOING TO THE CLOUD

Born in 2017, Orange Bank is a 100% subsidiary of the Orange Group. Since its launch, its offer has not stopped evolving (Premium bank card, Premium Pack, Express Loan), allowing it to claim:

  • 1.8 million customers in Europe,
  • Excellent level for its service on Trustpilot,
  • being elected best banking application 2022 by Moneyvox,
  • +2,000 authorized advisors in Orange stores in France.

Orange Bank has continued its development strategy with the acquisition of Anytime, a fintech serving the needs of professionals, businesses and associations in December 2020. The bank has also been present in Spain since November 2019.

At the end of 2019, Orange Bank chooses to operate a Go To Cloud enabling multiple objectives:

  • Infrastructure modernization (modern/scalable infrastructure, security architecture, production tools...)
  • DevOps transformation (organization / operational model / CICD)
  • Time-to-Market reduction

NEED TO TRANSFORM?

Let's meet!

GLOBAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE ORGANIZATION

Ippon supported Orange Bank on its Go To Cloud project from the very first stages of scoping, during the migration and on an ongoing basis to manage and evolve the entire Cloud platform.

This support evolved as the program progressed:

  • Choice of Cloud provider / general architecture / organization / operational model
  • Cloud architecture / network support
  • Cloud transformation consulting / Operational model
  • Agile / Safe Coaching

  • Construction of the AWS landing zone and transversal services (security, network, IAM, monitoring/logging, Kubernetes, CI/CD...)
  • Landing zone expertise / feedback
  • Technical expertise (Cloud, IAC, tools)

  • Support to the migration program
  • Architecture / Migration framework
  • Technical expertise (Cloud, IAC, CI/CD)
  • Support and migration of the architecture (VPN, MPLS/DirectConnect...)

  • Support for the creation and organization of a transverse "Cloud platform" team
  • Technical Cloud product ownership
  • Cloud & DevOps consultants
  • 24/7 on-call

"It wasn't just a migration," says Damien Rollet, Cloud and Devops Architect at Ippon. It was about rebuilding Orange Bank's entire IT department from scratch, with tooling, monitoring, security..."

From PoC to IoT - Positioning for Series A

To position an early startup for Series A funding, Ippon was enlisted to design & develop the IoT cloud infrastructure to support scaled delivery of the proof of concept (PoC) to beta users. In parallel, this doubled as a coaching opportunity to lift team delivery and efficiency, by partnering with the Head of Product to create their first roadmap, introduce agile processes, and enhance communication across the organization.

Revolutionizing Operations: A Triumph on the Platform of a Major Financial Institution

The portion of the large financial institution that we interfaced with was the center for machine learning. Ippon provided the center for machine learning with a team in a box composed of several site reliability engineers (SRE). SRE engineers have a mixed toolbag comprised of software and devOps skills, there primary focus is to try drive high availability, reliability and scalability. These SRE engineers took up the challenge of overseeing the adoption of SLI/SLO metrics for users of the platform, standing up dashboards to properly reflect the aforementioned metrics, redefining the incident support model and gathering data about all critical services on the platform. As a result of the SREs work, the center for machine learning at the large financial institution has better metrics, tracking and reporting for incidents.
